FAIR2earth: New R&D infrastructure in cooperation with TU Wien

Through the FFG-funded project FAIR2earth, we will create a new R&D infrastructure for storing several additional petabytes of remote sensing data and other geoscientific datasets. The project in cooperation with TU Wien will scale up the existing infrastructure capabilities of the Earth Observation Data Centre (EODC) to be able to store and process multiple Petabyte-scale Earth observation and geoscientific data sets on site.

Accessing and exploiting EODC’s Petabyte-scale data repository will become much easier for users from different disciplines, countries, and sectors complying to the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles. Moreover, FAIR2earth will strengthen EODC’s cooperation resp. federation activities with the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), WEkEO DIAS and and other European infrastructures.
