EODC is awarded the FFG funded project ACube4floods

Flooding is a recurrent phenomenon in Austria. Every year sees at least several smaller-scale flooding events occurring in different parts of the territory. While the extent and duration of these events are limited, the monitoring and documentation are of high importance because of the impact of these events on society and economy.

The ACube4Floods project will strive to extract the maximum information from Sentinel-1 & Sentinel-2 time series by applying change detection- and machine learning algorithms to analysis-ready Sentinel data cubes.

By capturing also smaller-scale flood events, ACube4Floods will help the project’s pilot users, most importantly the Austrian Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism and the Federal Ministry of Defense, to enhance disaster resilience, through better preparedness, response, inventory and recovery.

Project Partners are: TU Wien Department o Geodesy and Geoinformation (GEO), University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), INVENIUM Data Insights GmbH (INVENIUM), Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik (ZAMG), Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Federal Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism (BMNT), Federal Ministry of Defense (BMLV)
